Rebecca Samakow is a lawyer by day and happy home chef by night. Her passion for cooking started by assisting her father and grandmother in the kitchen, where she learned all different types of recipes and the fundamentals of creating home cooked meals.
When the pandemic started last year, Rebecca created a virtual cooking class for her colleagues at work to help keep their team together even though they were apart. What started as a way for colleagues to virtually hang out, learn basic cooking skills and how to make simple meals, turned into a full-fledged, weekly cooking series.
During the live weekly series, Rebecca teaches viewers and participants the history and facts of food, basic cooking skills, with easy to follow recipes, that everyone cooks together. Each week focuses on bringing new and exciting flavor profiles together and encouraging the common theme that food is for everyone and everyone can cook!
Creating this series and having the opportunity to see people who have never cooked before gain a new skill set and passion became one of the most rewarding experiences for Rebecca in 2020, and she is looking forward to continuing on this culinary journey.
On this episode, Rebecca shares her one way ticket to 1950s France when Julia Child was in cooking school. During the conversation, Rebecca also offers some terrific kitchen tips and hacks for both the experienced and newbie chef. Plus, in this age of the #greatresignation she offers valuable advice on how to pivot careers instead.
